Gerald “Bud” Berry was a C-47 Skytrain co-pilot assigned to the 91st Squadron of the 439th Troop Carrier Group. His mission to deliver Army paratroopers was going smoothly until they hit an enormous cloud bank over the coast of France. He carried the 101st Airborne E Company and D Company and they jumped from his plane.
