Fred Olivi joined the service immediately, when war with Japan broke out, because he was the sole male provider of his mother and sister. In August 1944 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. United States Army-Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was the Co-pilot on the B-29 bomber named Bock’s Car that dropped the second Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki, Japan on 09-08-1945. Olivi’s recollection of the bombing from high above was that a very bright light with a bluish cast, cloud cover and debris from the explosion made it almost impossible to see any of the city below. Fred Olivi has hand signed this Vintage B&W 8x10 Photo with Co-Pilot Bockscar Nagasaki Mission 9 Aug 1945 inscriptions. JSA Hologram #EE63513 and JSA Certificate of Authenticity.
