The Charlie Daniels Band (CDB) was one of the most successful and influential Southern rock and country-rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s. Formed by Charlie Daniels in 1972, the band blended country, rock, blues, bluegrass, gospel, and fiddle-driven music into a distinctive sound. One of their biggest songs was "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" (1979) – their signature hit and a Grammy-winning song featuring Charlie's blazing fiddle performance. It reached No. 1 on the country chart and crossed over to pop audiences. Charlie Daniels himself was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016, recognizing both his solo achievements and the impact of the Charlie Daniels Band. One of the band's most famous traditions was the Volunteer Jam, an annual all-star concert series started in the 1970s that featured artists from country, rock, blues, and gospel music. Guests over the years included members of The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band, and many other major acts.
