Mark Gastineau is a former pro football defensive end who played in the NFL for 10 seasons with the New York Jets. During his NFL career, he was named Defensive Player of the Year in 1982 and was the first player to lead the league in sacks in consecutive seasons. Gastineau also received five Pro Bowl and four first-team All-Pro selections. At the time of his retirement, he held the single-season sack record. For his accomplishments in New York, Gastineau was inducted to the Jets Ring of Honor in 2012. In New York, Gastineau was a key part of the famed "New York Sack Exchange", the Jets defensive line that also included Joe Klecko, Marty Lyons and Abdul Salaam.
