Craig Monroe was selected by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round of the 1995 MLB draft. He made his major league debut on July 28, 2001. In, 2002, Monroe was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Tigers organization. He hit five home runs in the 2006 postseason, which culminated in a World Series appearance for the Tigers.
