Leon Day was a pro baseball pitcher who spent the majority of his career in the Negro leagues. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995. After his death in 1995, Day's widow, Geraldine, established the Leon Day Foundation in 2001 to sponsor organized sports and preserve the cultural significance of the Negro leagues.
